Omar Apollo To Make His Acting Debut in Luca Guadagnino's 'Queer'
Starring alongside Daniel Craig and Drew Starkey.
Omar Apollo is set to make his big-screen debut in Luca Guadagnino’s forthcoming film, Queer, according to IndieWire. Written by Challengers screenwriter Justin Kuritzkes and adapted from William S. Burrough’s 1985 novel of the same name, the movie also stars Daniel Craig and Drew Starkey.
While much of the plot is still under wraps, here’s what we know: Craig’s character, William Lee, is an American expat and war veteran living in Mexico City in the 1940s. He enters a relationship with a younger man, Eugene Allerton (Starkey), who is said to be based on a man known as Adelbert Lewis Marker, who Burrough himself met while traveling through Mexico’s capital city and ultimately inspired his novel, per the outlet. Apollo’s role in all of this is currently unknown, though it’s said to be “top-billed.”
The remainder of the film’s cast includes Jason Schwartzman, Henrique Zaga, Andres Duprat, Ariel Shulman, Drew Droege and Colin Bates. Much of the Challengers team is returning for this project, including Jonathan Anderson for costume design, Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross for musical composition and Sayombhu Mukdeeprom for cinemtography.
