Earlier this year, it was revealed that Nike SB teamed up with skater and architect Alexis Sablone to assemble the skateboarding kits for Team USA and Team Japan’s appearance at this year’s Olympic Games in Paris. Blending workwear aesthetics with Nike’s modern performance technology, a diverse range of apparel was created. Now, we have a look at what’s in store for Team Japan as the collection has just released.
Starting with the Dri-FIT ADV Short-Sleeve Jersey, its sweat-wicking fabric hosts unique thematic touches throughout. The front sees Nike SB branding joined by a woven patch that features a graphic of Mount Fuji with koi fish and cherry blossom detailing. It also sees the Japanese flag rest just below the collar, which sports a Roman numeral graphic in the same style as the sleeve cuffs that include “JAPAN” and “SKATE” text warped at the right and left respectively. From there, the Short-Sleeve Button-Up Bowler Shirt appears in red with a large embroidered koi fish at the back. A tan sport polo and black pullover hoodie with callouts to Japan round out this preview of the range, while the Swoosh has also included additional designs in the full launch, ranging from t-shirts to overalls.
For those interested in picking up pieces from Nike SB’s collection for Japan’s national skateboarding team, it is available now via Nike in select regions. Prices begin at ¥9,680 JPY (approx. $62 USD) for the Fleece Pullover Hoodie and go up to ¥22,330 JPY (approx. $142 USD) for the Dri-FIT ADV Short-Sleeve Jersey.
