Within the Magic: The Gathering universe, the game has dedicated its Secret Lair sub-brand to putting out collaborations that allow those outside of MTG to offer their unique take on the card’s art and themes. The bulk of past Secret Lair drops has been with other games, including collaborations with Arcane, Fortnite and League of Legends.

For its latest release, MTG tapped the Los Angeles-based Brain Dead, a streetwear collective known for its inventive and often unusual graphics.

The Secret Lair x Brain Dead card set is split into three different drops: Creatures, Lands and Staples. For Creatures, Brain Dead picked a few fan-favorites like the Sphinx, Goblin Shaman and goopy green Ooze for playful recreations.

With Lands, the brand designed two cards for each environment, showcasing different aspects of MTG’s landscapes. Staple, meanwhile, delivers Commander cards, which are played in a deck of 100 among four players.

Art for the cards was created by Gage Lindsten, Ema Gaspar, Gomzé, JRZ251, Hank Reavis, Bardo Bread, Jackson Epstein and Kogan.

Available on the Secret Lair website, each drop costs $30 USD and foil versions run for $40 USD. Brain Dead has also released a collection of Secret Lair-branded merchandise.
