Notes: Awake NY has revived the Michelle Obama T-shirt from its Fall 2018 collection for an updated “Michelle ‘24” graphic that jokingly announces the brand as Obama’s running mate for the 2024 US presidential election. Offered in options of either black or white, the T-shirt is designed with her Princeton University graduation portrait (where she graduated cum laude with a major in sociology and a minor in African-American studies) and the quote “When they go low, we go high” — words she first stated at the 2016 Democratic National Convention. On the back in red, white and blue are the words “OBAMA AWAKE ‘24” and the Awake NY logo.
Proceeds from the “Michelle ’24 Tee” will be donated to the Asiyah Women’s Center, the first women’s emergency center located in New York City and New Jersey that provides essential resources for women of color who are refugees and migrants.
