Lichen's "Ridge" Incense Holder is Sublimely Sleek
Designed by Snow Liaw, the “Ridge” draws inspiration from mountains, waves and even folded chopstick wrappers.
Ridgewood, NY-based design incubator, studio and showroom Lichen has debuted its latest in-house design: the “Ridge” incense holder. Crafted by Snow Liaw, the newest addition to Lichen’s cadre of in-house designers, the “Ridge” draws from Law’s interest in items of everyday use — plus the sweet smell and wafting smoke of incense, frequent presences at the Lichen headquarters.
Arriving in both classic stainless silver steel and bold green, the “Ridge” salutes a multitude of inspirations with its sublimely sleek design. In a more literal way, the sharp angles salute both mountain peaks and the name of the neighborhood that Lichen calls home. In a more metaphorical way, the design nods to cresting waves, and how the subtle vibrations of music can influence incense smoke to curl into wave-like shapes as well.
Last, and likely most personally, the “Ridge” nods to Law’s habit of folding their paper chopstick wrappers, which itself is part of their love of both eating and sharing food. Besides its primary use, the shape of the “Ridge” also enables it to serve as an accessory holder or rolling tray.
Both colorways of the “Ridge” are available now via Lichen’s webstore and showroom (564 Woodward Avenue, Ridgewood, NY, 11385). Each is priced at $50 USD.
