Kali Uchis Officially Releases Fan-Favorite Demo “Never Be Yours”
The track was recorded as a demo nearly a decade ago.
After releasing her fourth studio LP ORQUÍDEAS earlier this year, Kali Uchis has returned with a new single. The track is called “Never Be Yours” and while it’s only just making its debut on streaming services, it’s been part of Uchis’ discography for a decade.
Like many, the singer got her start writing, producing and recording music at home. “Never Be Yours” was one of her first official demos. Over the past decade, the song has circulated on YouTube – and more recently TikTok – and fans have been begging Uchis to release it.
“Hello Kitty, why the long face? / You keep on standin’, standin’, standin’ in the same place,” Uchis sings. “New coupons, riding in the Chevrolet with big bass / You’re deep on talkin’, talkin’ ’bout how we all lack taste.”
Uchis has had a major 2024. In March, she and Don Toliver welcomed their first child. Her collaboration with Peso Pluma from ORQUÍDEAS, “Igual Que Un Ángel,” has also become a major hit, landing atop Billboard‘s Hot Latin Songs chart.
