JW Anderson's Pride 2024 Capsule Is All About Pigeons
Pigeons for Pride? Groundbreaking.
JW Anderson’s source of inspiration for his latest Pride collection is, well, very him: a pigeon. The brand’s viral Pigeon Clutch Bag, featured in And Just Like That…, got a Pride makeover as illustrations of the moldboard bird, featuring a harness and mohawk while being showered in confetti, appear across the ready-to-wear range.
In addition to the pigeon variations, the artist Pol Anglada illustrated a gay couple locked in a kiss in front of a JW Anderson store during a Pride celebration. The illustrations were placed on an assortment of tees, tanks, sheer tops, polos, sweatshirts, and swim trunks. The illustrations come in a variety of sizes, with some occupying a corner for a more subtle approach and others taking up the whole garment.
The slogan of this capsule—“Won’t you be my pigeon? Chirp loud. Live Proud”—made its way onto a tee, playing with the pigeon theme while incorporating Anderson’s main message of love and acceptance. Elsewhere, the brand’s logo tee and sheer top are revamped with the brand’s signage duplicated six times, each in a different color of the rainbow, across both silhouettes.
