Last year, renowned hip-hop group De La Soul re-released its first six-albums on digital streaming platforms – a win for not just the group but for its longtime fans. The re-release effort was no easy battle as the group had to work through contractual disputes alongside sample clearances, but was finally able to have their body of work released again digitally through Chrysalis Records. Now De La Soul is offering a closer look at that process with the reveal of their new documentary, entitled Chapter 3.
“Chapter 3 chronicles the iconic studio sessions leading up to the 2023 re-release and remaster of De La Soul’s catalog, one of the most storied music collections in hip-hop. These sessions marked the first time in almost three decades that Posdnuos, Dave, Maseo, and producer Prince Paul ventured into the same studio together in service of a De La Soul project.”
De La Soul is set to release its Chapter 3 documentary beginning on Friday, June 7 via a global live stream on their website and social media pages.
