Roger Federer and JW Anderson Return With Second UNIQLO Collection
Featuring parkas, polos, joggers and more inspired by vintage tenniswear designs from the ’70s and ’80s.
After launching a successful collaboration in August of last year (and amid surging demand for tenniscore à la Zendaya’s impressive Challengers press tour), Roger Federer and JW Anderson have reunited with UNIQLO for another ready-to-wear collection inspired by vintage tenniswear designs from the ’70s and ’80s.
“This collection draws design inspiration from previous tennis eras, incorporating UNIQLO’s signature functional fabrics,” said Anderson. “I believe we’ve crafted items that not only resonate with the essence of sport but also serve as versatile everyday wear that everyone can enjoy.”
This time around, the collection’s hero is a lightweight parka, which features a boxy silhouette with color-blocking tape on raglan sleeves. The line also houses nylon jogger pants, boasting casual builds reminiscent of track pants from bygone tennis days, and AIRism polo shirts, finished with border stripe patterns signature to Anderson’s design ethos. Elsewhere, more polo shirts and shorts employ UNIQLO’s DRY-EX material, championing Federer’s penchant for styles that can be worn in all sorts of settings.
“It’s been a pleasure working with Jonathan again, bringing together his unique vision with UNIQLO’s expertise in creating stylish and functional products,” Federer, a global brand ambassador for UNIQLO, added. “I hope everyone enjoys wearing these pieces, whether it’s on the tennis court, for other sports, or in casual settings.”
