PinkPantheress Says Songs Don’t Need to Be Longer Than 3 Minutes

Her debut album ‘Heaven Knows’ was full of quick cuts.

PinkPantheress dropped her debut album Heaven Knows in November and while the project encompasses 13 songs, it still comes in at a compact 34 minutes – an average of about two and a half minutes per track.

Some fans have noticed a pattern in the British singer’s discography, namely that all of her singles are quite short. In a new interview with ABC News, PinkPantheress shared how she came to favor shorter tracks on the LP and now even favors a quick cut.

“I was able to experiment and making short songs was just a result of me experimenting,” the singer said. “A song doesn’t need to be longer than two minutes [and] thirty [seconds], in my opinion.”

“We don’t need to repeat a verse, we don’t need to have a bridge, we don’t need it. We don’t need a long outro.”

Social media began debating her point of view, with TDE President Terrence “Punch” Henderson posting to X, “No more bridges?”

Even though a six-minute track may be more conducive to something like a ballad, PinkPantheress’ alt-pop style gets the energy going quite early on in a track. Her hit “Boy’s a Liar,” for instance, comes in at just two minutes and eleven seconds.
