Nothing Announces Super Nintendo-Inspired Special Edition Phone (2a)
Available now in limited numbers.

It’s only been a couple months since Nothing launched its latest smartphone, Phone (2a), in March, but the London-based brand has just announced a colorful version of Phone (2a) that’s dropping in limited quantities today.
Phone (2a) ‘Special Edition’ arrives in a contrasting body of silver and grey, peppered with a palette of primary colors throughout. The combination of grey hues together with red, yellow and blue give strong Super Nintendo controller vibes, but anyone familiar with Nothing will likely recognize these colours from its past products, with the same red found on all of its right earbuds, yellow from its latest Ear (a), and blue most recently seen in the Phone (2a) itself. It’s a simple but intentional use of color; a doubling-down by the brand of its design language, something it has always claimed gives it its unique selling point in a pretty saturated smartphone market.
The new limited edition Nothing Phone (2a) is exactly the same on the inside as the launch version of which 100,000 units were sold on the first day (according to figures published by the brand). It features an 8-core chip Dimensity 7200 Pro chip and 20 GB RAM, as well as a 5,000 mAh battery that’s even bigger than the one found its flagship device, Phone 2. It runs Android 14 out the box — reskinned into Nothing’s OS 2.5 — and comes with all 13 of the updates the brand has rolled out to Phone (2a) users preinstalled. Phone (2a) ‘Special Edition’ features the same 1,300 nits, 6.7-inch AMOLED display as the regular Phone (2a), an impressive screen with a 120 Hz refresh rate that performs incredibly well for the price of the phone. There are twin rear cameras onboard – both with 50 MP sensors – as well as optical image stabilization, with video being captured at 4K by the main rear camera and a front “selfie” camera that’s capable of capturing 1080p content at 60 FPS.
Phone (2a) ‘Special Edition’ is available today via Nothing’s website priced at £349 GBP / €379 EUR. A limited number of phones are launching at Nothing’s Soho store in London on June 1, next door to Supreme at 4 Peter St, W1F 0AD. There’s no news of a US launch for now, but stay tuned for more information as we get it.
