Update: Nike has returned to reveal the key tech behind WNBA sharpshooter Sabrina Ionescu’s second signature shoe.

The Nike Sabrina 2, built with quickness at the fore, is 28 grams later than its predecessor. Its plush CushIon 3.0 foam midsole—the first of its kind to appear in a Nike basketball shoe—is held inside a durable CushIon foam carrier. The forefoot hosts a Nike Zoom Air unit for maximal energy return and responsiveness, and a new band system circles the midfoot for a secure fit. The rubber outsole, meanwhile, dons a new “S”-inspired herringbone pattern.

An “S” frame dictates the upper, where embroidered patterns salute Sabrina’s initials and number. The Swoosh strikes through the medial side of the shoe, “resembling shattered glass from the ceilings Sabrina continues to break,” per the brand.

Alongside the footwear silhouette, the Nike x Sabrina Ionescu collaboration includes a fully formed apparel collection, featuring a reversible bomber jacket, a hoodie, two T-shirts, and shorts. There’s also a kids’ collection, which houses a hoodie and shorts. The brand stated that more details about the clothing line will be available “soon.”

As previously reported, the Nike Sabrina 2 signature collection is scheduled to launch on June 28 via Nike SNKRS and select retailers at a price of $130 USD.

Update: After surfacing earlier this week, we have our first official look at the Nike Sabrina 2. Appearing first in this “Cave Purple” colorway, the sharpshooter’s second signature shoe sports black and purple throughout this iteration. Iridescent detailing arrives at the Swooshes and the tongue’s “S” logo while the shoe is accompanied by a thematic shoe box. The Swoosh has yet to reveal all of the shoe’s key tech, though it notably features an Air Zoom callout at the sole unit. Stay tuned for updates as this take on the new sneaker is now expected to hit shelves on June 28 via Nike SNKRS and select retailers at a price of $130 USD.

Original Story: The 2024 WNBA season kicks off tomorrow with the Washington Mystics facing off against Sabrina Ionescu and the New York Liberty. For Ionescu, this marks her fifth year in the league after being selected first by the Liberty in the 2020 WNBA Draft. While the Liberty ultimately lost in the WNBA Finals last year, they’re poised to make another deep run in 2024. At the same time, Ionescu, who introduced the Nike Sabrina 1 — her first signature shoe — last July, is preparing to launch her second design with the Nike Sabrina 2.

In anticipation of the new season’s start, a first look at the Sabrina 2 has finally appeared. Showcased in the Instagram post embedded below, the new design seems to draw inspiration from the Nike Kobe 5 with its slick, low-cut build. Arriving first with a purple and black color arrangement, an overlay at the lateral reaches from the forefoot of the midsole to the collar while a layer of mesh exists beneath it. Ionescu’s “S” logo returns to the tongue while the sneaker’s sole unit is split into segments.

At the time of writing, neither Sabrina Ionescu nor Nike Basketball have shared any details regarding the release of the Nike Sabrina 2. Stay tuned for updates, including a closer look at the new design, as we currently expect the sneaker to land on shelves this summer via Nike SNKRS and select retailers around the $130 USD price point.
