Jeremy Booth Unveils New Works for Latest Marfa Invitational
As part of his first solo exhibition titled ‘The New West,’ curated by Ronnie Pirovino.
Jeremy Booth, known primarily for his digital artworks, continues to explore the realm of physical art — most recently in the form of a solo exhibition set to take place May 10-12 as part of the 2024 Marfa Invitational.
Having been mentored by Australian impressionist artist Robert Hagan, known for his romanticized Western art, Booth has become quite skilled with a paintbrush.
“I’ve had some experience painting abstract geometric shapes in the past but nothing to the detail of my Western art but had the itch to try, and Robert really encouraged me to do it,” shared Booth reflecting on when his physical art journey first began.
He added “I really fell in love with the craft and developed a deeper relationship with my work, far beyond what I’ve experienced to date. I’ve had to grow in patience because of the time it takes to produce work, train my breathing for line work, learn how to mix color, and much more — for context, I could produce a digital piece in two to three days but a painting takes about three weeks when it’s all said and done.”
Booth’s upcoming exhibition, titled The New West, curated by Ronnie Pirovino, showcases new works that stand as an ode to the tradition, legacy and free spirit of the American West and for the artist the exploration of a new frontier. The featured works stay true to Booth’s underlying aesthetic, tapping into his usual minimalistic and cinematic approach, producing finished pieces that might be defined as Wester Pop art.
“While the Old West inspires me, my approach is contemporary and uses a touch of technology to make it more memorable. You’ll have to visit the exhibit to see what it’s all about,” shared the artist in a recent social media post.
