South Korea’s SURL Drops First Track Since 2022, “Hypnosis”
Following up its 2022 debut LP ‘of us.’

South Korea’s SURL has been making waves in the country’s growing indie scene over the past five years. In 2022, the band released its debut album, of us, followed by a tour throughout Asia, the US and Canada.
SURL has now returned with its first single since of us, an edgy track dubbed “Hypnosis.” Having always led with instrumentation in its prior releases, this song is no different and features sharp guitar riffs throughout. SURL also released both the song itself and an instrumental version.
For those unfamiliar with the band, SURL is composed of Seoul Hoseung, Kim Doyeon, Lee Hanbin and Oh Myeongsuk. Hoseung sings and plays the guitar and Doyeon joins on the guitar. Hanbin tackles bass while Myeongsuk drums. The band was signed to Happy Robot Records and released its debut EP, Aren’t You?, in 2018.
