Coi Leray Pays Homage to Janet Jackson in “Can’t Come Back” Music Video

Coi Leray may have just released her namesake album last year but the hip-hop star is showing no signs of slowing down. She’s now dropped her first single of 2024, “Can’t Come Back,” along with an official music video that pays tribute to an iconic Janet Jackson visual.
Leray truly can’t be categorized within any genre of rap or R&B and “Can’t Come Back” is yet another testament to her fluid musical tastes. A funky intro to the song is reminiscent of ‘80s and ‘90s-hailing R&B beats, over which the artist whispers the words “can’t come back.”
Fittingly, the accompanying video is a reimagination of a song that dominated ‘80s R&B, Jackson’s “The Pleasure Principle.” Leray offers a fresh take on the choreography of the visual, passionately dancing around an empty loft.
“Can’t Come Back” was produced by Mike WiLL Made-It alongside Melz & True Beats. Dragan Andic directed the video, enlisting Alondra Costa for creative direction and Johnathan Behr for production.
