Salomon Introduces the RX Marie-Jeanne
Part-gorpcore, part-school girl.
Update: After surfacing last month, Salomon has officially brought forth its latest slip-on silhouette — the RX Marie-Jeanne. Blending the delicate design of a Mary Jane with technical recovery footwear, the resulting silhouette offers fashion-forward styling while remaining minimalistic and versatile, not to mention carrying a lightweight build of just 237 grams. Arriving for the springtime, three colorways of “Vanilla Ice,” “Ghost Gray” and “Black” are set to debut the new slip-on starting April 19 via Salomon and select retailers at a price of $150 USD.

Original Story: Salomon is seemingly taking note from Sandy Liang with its latest model, reworking its technical RX SLIDE as a Mary Jane.
Originally a unisex recovery shoe, Salomon gives the RX a feminine twist in the new RX Marie Jeanne. While the silhouette adheres to the typical look of a velcro Mary Jane, it’s made entirely out of mesh and features a cushy sole, ideal for breathability and comfort after a long hike.
Salomon’s lightweight EVA midsole makes a return – the same used in the RX Slide – and the mesh upper avoids the typical weight of a sneaker, weighing just half a pound (237 grams). The cut-out typical of a Mary Jane on the top of the foot allows more air to enter the shoe.
The RX Mary Jeanne comes in two monochromatic colorways, a solid black and a light “Ghost Gray.”
Salomon isn’t a total newcomer to a more feminine shoe. In fact, the brand has collaborated with Sandy Liang, who is widely regarded as the name behind the modern Mary Jane craze. Last year, the two dropped a pink iteration of the Salomon XT-6 Expanse, along with a white mesh RX Moc 3.0
