Stone Island To Present First US Archival Exhibition in Los Angeles
Coinciding with Frieze LA, the exhibit will offer an in-depth look at the Stone Island Shadow Project.

Set to take place during Frieze Los Angeles, Stone Island has curated an archival show of rare and previously unexhibited pieces. Entitled Selected Works ‘982-‘024, the assemblage will offer visitors a unique, comprehensive look into the brand.
42 garments have been selected to paint the brand story of Stone Island over the decades, from 1982 to the present day. It’ll nod to the brand’s distinct Reflective Jackets, presenting some of the designs from the 1992 collection, when Stone Island first began experimenting with the garment.
Selected Works ‘982-‘024 will also hold a lens up to the Stone Island Shadow Project for the first time ever. A collaboration between Stone Island and ACRONYM®’s Errolson Hugh and Michaela Sachenbacher, the sub-brand was launched in 2008 and ran until 2021. The exhibition will focus on how designers conducted research for its production.
Other pieces showcased will span Stone Island’s collaborations with brands such as Supreme, New Balance and NikeLab. To mark the opening, a series of films and discussions will be held – among them, a documentary by Ken-Tonio Yamamoto shot at Stone Island’s headquarters in Ravarino, Italy. A short film by Jeremy Elkin will also be screened, documenting the Stone Island global community.
Selected Works ‘982-‘024 will be accompanied by a Selected Works Café helmed by Community Goods and Selected Works Gift Shop by Better Gift Shop, offering books and goods selected by guest curators.
Stone Island will also be partnering with Frieze to help galleries fund their exhibition costs. Selected Works ‘982-‘024 will run from February 29 to March 3. Those interested in attending can register on the Stone Island website.
