Piaget Revives the Iconic Polo 79 in Yellow Gold
A limited production of 79 examples.

On the occasion of Piaget’s 150th anniversary, the luxury Maison has announced the revival of a golden Polo reference that embodies the glamour and sports chic spirit of the ‘80s.
A near identical recreation of the 1979 Polo watch, the new model not only bears a familiar and nostalgic design but with a name that also serves as a tribute to the original. From the bracelet, the case to the dial, the entire timepiece sports the Maison’s trademarked gadroon pattern and is fully armored in 18k yellow gold, all the while weighing only 200 grams.
While the Piaget Polo 79 is surely eye-catching, it keeps another additional embellishment to the minimal. On the dial, the hour markers and minute track come in the form of tonal dotted engravings, topped with only Piaget’s logo and matching dauphine hands.
Despite its opulent appearance, the original piece was advertised as “the world’s ultimate sports watch” during its initial release due to its being both shockproof and waterproof. The contemporary recreation has also upgraded its beating heart to the 1200P1 Manufacture self-winding movement. The intricately crafted caliber can be observed via its open caseback, all encased within its slim 38mm case that boasts a thickness of only 7.45mm.
The Piaget Polo 79 is confirmed to be a limited production of 79 examples, with a recommended price tag of $73,000 USD. Read more about the timepiece via the Maison’s official website.
