Piaget‘s latest unveiling, the Polo Minute Repeater, serves as a striking fusion of technical mastery and artisanal craft. Building on the Maison’s legacy of ultra‑thin chiming watches, this timepiece integrates the complication into the Polo collection, Piaget’s modern sport‑chic line. The watch exposes the inner workings of the caliber 1290P through a partially openworked dial, highlighting the brand’s dual expertise in Haute Horlogerie and Haute Joaillerie.
Housed in an 18‑carat white gold case, measuring 48mm in diameter with a slim 9.3mm profile, the Polo Minute Repeater balances elegance with resilience. At the heart of the timepiece is the ultra-thin, self-winding Caliber 1290P, comprising 430 hand-finished components conceived, developed, and assembled in Piaget’s historic La Côte-aux-Fées manufacture.
A platinum micro-rotor coated in rich blue PVD drives the movement, while hand-beveled bridges, a guilloché mainplate and mirror-polished hammers highlight the decoration. Engineered for optimal acoustic performance, the minute repeater delivers 64 decibels of intensity, striking hours at G-sharp and minutes at A-sharp in the fifth octave via a downward-activating slide at 9 o’clock. Water-resistant to 3 ATM, the watch comes fitted with a blue textured embossed calfskin strap along with an additional leather band.
Reflecting the extreme labor required – including over 150 hours to develop the dial alone and 50 hours of hand-finishing per piece – Piaget will craft only five numbered pieces of the Piaget Polo Minute Repeater this year. Alongside the main release, the Maison also introduced a High Jewellery variant featuring a fully openworked dial, a bezel set with baguette-cut blue and a case embellished with both baguette-cut and brilliant-cut diamonds.
