Lee Dips Signature Silhouettes in Basquiat's Artwork

Denim imprint Lee has looked to the legacy of Jean-Michel Basquiat to reimagine a slew of its signature denim styles. Lee taps into the artist’s mastery of vibrant graphics to add bursts of intentional cultural, colorful flair to jackets, jeans and knitwear.

Lee stamps Basquiat’s “Warrior” and “Pez Dispenser” pieces on the backside of a bevy of apparel, including denim jackets and shirts, longsleeve tees and printed cardigans.

Inspired by the tailored (and typically paint-splattered) suits that Basquiat publicly painted in is the Men’s Striped Blazer and Pant set. The pinstriped blazer sees the artist’s crown tag stamped subtly on the back, with the wide-legged trousers complete with the motif running down the side

Elsewhere, Lee’s timeless Denim Rider Jacket is reimagined with lining influenced by Basquiat’s “Phooey” painting – the work also brought to life in the Men’s Printed Sweater. A handful of co-branded graphic tees and crown-embroidered jeans round out the range.
