Tailor Toyo x BEAMS BOY Team Up on Reversible Sukajan Jacket
An embroidered homage to Japan’s four seasons.
The Sukajan Jacket – also referred to as a Souvenir Jacket – has been a staple of Japanese fashion ever since its introduction in post-World War II Japan. A handful of streetwear heavyweights have reimagined the vintage bomber jacket as of late; BEAMS and Tailor Toyo – the original manufacturer of Sukajan jackets – have consistently connected year after year to rework the storied silhouette – and this year is no exception.
BEAMS BOY and Tailor Toyo have teamed up to present this year’s installment of their collaborative Sukajan series. With a canvas of a Sukajan jacket made in the mid-1950s, the duo has delivered a homage to Japan’s four seasons across a reversible, silky silhouette.
One side of the jacket showcases “Spring,” imbued with floral embroidery and a Maiko standing by a bridge surrounded by blooming cherry blossoms. As for the “Winter” side, the Maiko is seen standing with her umbrella surrounded by falling snow. Both sides of the jacket feature cuffed sleeves and a waistband to round it all out.
