A class action lawsuit has been filed against Mattel following the debacle that saw the company mistakenly print a URL to a pornographic site on a special-edition Wicked dolls packaging.

Filed by a South Carolina resident, court documents stated that the the lawsuit was launched after she purchased the toy for her young daughter who then visited the x-rated website that seemingly had “nothing to do with the Wicked doll.” The toy company mistakenly printed a similarly-titled website for the the adult-entertainment site Wicked Pictures as opposed to the actual film web page. The plaintiff has alleged that Mattel did not offer a refund and believes that her child suffered “emotional distress” after the misprint led to her entering the pornographic website.

The lawsuit reads, “These scenes were hardcore, full on nude pornographic images depicting actual intercourse. Plaintiff’s minor daughter immediately showed her mother the photographs and both were horrified by what they saw. If plaintiff had been aware of such an inappropriate defect in the product, she would not have purchased it.” At the time of when Mattel realized their mistake, they pulled the toy from shelves and retailers alike. The company issued a statement and said that they were “aware of a misprint on the packaging of the Mattel Wicked collection dolls, primarily sold in the United States, which intended to direct consumers to the official WickedMovie.com landing page.” Mattel advised those who bought it to “discard the product packaging or obscure the link.”
