sacai's Holiday Knits and Accessories Are Imbued With Whimsical Materiality
A celebration of individuality and community, offering everything from sweaters, handbags, teddy bears, umbrellas, jewelry and more.
sacai‘s Holiday collection is anything but quiet, comprising an array of mixed-knit garments, patchworked accessories and logo-bearing metal jewelry. The Japanese label’s affinity for unconventional cuts and playful approach to material application holds strong in the collection, which celebrates a season of gathering and gratitude from a deeply personal perspective.
The campaign imagery brings together a collage of polaroids depicting the brand’s close friends and family in the spirit of the winter’s festivities. The focus on individual personality is conveyed throughout the offering, which is led by an array of knitwear pieces in alternating tonal colorways.
A simple crewneck sweater is reimagined through an unconventional combination of cable-knit panels and traditional rib-knit panels. The mixed media application is also found on the remaining styles including a mock-neck jacket with a placket closure and a kimono-style cardigan with a silver zipper closure. Standing out are skirted sweater-dress hybrids and a pair of studded leather jackets.
However, accessories are where the holiday collection truly shines. Standing out are drawstring bucket bags in a paper-like “Coal” fabric that is both durable and water-resistant, finished with an enlarged S monogram on the bottom. The same material is applied to a series of hefty tote bags. sacai leans into whimsy with patchwork pouch bags, travel cases, umbrellas, and collectible teddy bears that combine high-contrast patterns from the brand’s lexicon.
Finally, metal jewelry arrives in lustrous brass and chrome molded into creative sacai word marks and monograms.
The 2024 sacai Holiday collection is available today at the brand’s web store. The special edition leather jackets will be available exclusively at sacai Aoyama and sacai Dover Street Market Ginza on November 15th.
