Caitlin Clark and Nelly Korda Are Having a WNBA / LPGA Crossover
The WNBA Rookie of the Year will play in next week’s Annika pro-am.
Having just completed a debut season for the ages in which she was awarded WNBA Rookie of the Year and named to the All-WNBA First Team, 22-year-old Caitlin Clark is enjoying some thoroughly deserved time off. While reports suggest she continues to work with Nike on a signature shoe, Clark has also recently taken up an interest in golf, and after a few lessons from retired golfer Martha Foyer-Faulconer the point guard is set to take part in her first pro-am.
In a crossover between some of the brightest talents in women’s sports past and present, Clark will play 9 holes with current number one player in the world Nelly Korda, then another 9 holes with the tournament host and golfing legend Annika Sorenstam. So much buzz has picked up around the tournament that the LPGA Tour and its broadcasting partner Golf Channel have taken the decision to expand its coverage. The LPGA and its social handles will live stream Clark’s pre-round warm-up, set to begin before 7AM on Wednesday, November 13, as well as a mid-round walk-and-talk style interview. The Golf Channel will also provide viewers with live look-ins of the action throughout its “Golf Today” program which will go on air at 11AM.
The Annika, the penultimate tournament on the LPGA calendar before the season ending CME Group Tour Championship, will be played from November 14 to 17.
