Teased earlier this summer, Moncler Genius has officially announced its immersive “City of Genius” event in Shanghai, revealing an impactful line-up of artists and designers. Moncler Genius will close Shanghai Fashion Week with a bang, championing revolutionary design by questioning everyday living.

Moncler took over the British capital in 2023 with a legendary experience alongside Pharrell Williams, Rick Owens, and Roc Nation. This time around, Moncler invites a fresh batch of talent to answer the question: how do you live Genius?

The 30,000-square-meter venue in Shanghai will bring creative visions to life, seeing Japanese designer Hiroshi Fujiwara return for another collection. Gilga Farm by Donald Glover and Mercedes-Benz by NIGO will also present dynamic collections, while LuLu Li, Palm Angels, A$AP Rocky, and Willow Smith will bring trail-blazing creativity to their Moncler Genius collaborations. Furthermore, Rick Owens and Jil Sander will present independent collections with Moncler Genius liberating your inner child.

In Moncler’s announcement campaign, local creatives Leah Dou, Wing Shya, and Xu Bing learn how to “Live Genius” and embody the brand’s boundary-breaking identity in an energetic city.

“This journey isn’t just about the inner self but also about engaging with the outer world. Communicating with the world we live in is just as important as individuality. It’s through balancing inner confidence with the humility of being part of a larger community that we arrive at the “City of Genius,” Leah Dou tells Hypebeast. “As a Chinese artist, my music is shaped by the memories, experiences, and environment I’ve grown up in. The culture, the people, and the places around me have all contributed to who I am and continue to inspire my creative process.”

“I’m naturally more visually sensitive because of my experiences in all these areas: my photography background is a great enhancement to the visuals presented and how colors are adapted, and it is also due to my background in art, which is less of a delineating process and much more of an emotional process to me,” says multi-disciplinary photographer, filmmaker, and artist Wing Shya. “Shanghai is definitely a unique and correct choice for Genius as the city has a lot of youth energy and much more to offer. It is a metropolis that we all know so much more can bloom from it. It serves a strong foundation to the concept of this project and this helps to set a good backdrop to how I can work to develop the idea in abundance.”

Moncler’s “City of Genius” event will take place on October 19 as part of Shanghai Fashion Week.
