The Hublot x Takashi Murakami MP-15 Tourbillon Sapphire Rainbow Is Set for a Limited Release
Dazzling, intricate and hyper-kawaii.
As Hublot and Takashi Murakami continue to strengthen their bond, the latest unveiling from the two brings back the MP-15 Tourbillon Sapphire Rainbow for a limited release. Last year, two special MP-15 models were unveiled, with one dedicated to the Only Watch 2023 auction, while a less colorful iteration was revealed as a limited drop a few months later.
Dazzling, intricate and hyper-kawaii, the timepiece arrives in the shape of Murakami’s hallmarked flower motif. Crafted from polished sapphire crystal, the casing boasts a clear and transparent finish that offers a peek inside. Despite its unconventional shape, the timepiece measures only 42mm in diameter, with each of its “petals” set with gemstones.
What sets this iteration apart from the auction piece, is that each petal spotlights a different color that echoes its parallel hour marker. Although both variants are set with 444 gemstones, the Only Watch edition featured a rainbow-like gradient on all the petals.
Murakami’s iconic smiley face is laser-engraved onto the domed sapphire crystal, forming the center of the dial. Laying under the smile is the HUB9015 manual-winding tourbillon, which has been skeletonized, thus creating the visual intrigue of the movement floating in mid-air.
The one-off piece that was given to Only Watch ended up being sold for 420,000 CHF (approx. $484,473 USD) at the auction. But this time, the timepiece will be available for purchase in a 20-piece limited run, each priced at $374,000 USD. For more details, visit Hublot’s official website.
