Union LA is linking up with Birkenstock to pay tribute to some of Chris Gibbs‘ favorite footwear styles. A loyal Birks wearer since his early days, Gibbs joined hands with Birkenstock to combine the craftsmanship of his two favorite models – Birks’ “Boston” and “Zurich” silhouettes – in a utilitarian-inspired hybrid silhouette.
Entitled the “Bimshire” after the island of Barbados in homage to Gibbs’ Bajan roots, the dual-minded delivery lands in two neutral colorways of”Beige Taupe” and “Shadow Grey” just in time for Zurich’s 60th anniversary.
A tonal canvas comes trimmed with French piping and complete with a round, suede toe with smooth leather straps closing out the top of the structure with Birkenstock’s signature buckle design atop. The footbed comes anatomically shaped and engulfed in Union’s infamous orange colorway.
“It’s a dream come true to be working with Birkenstock – a brand that I have been wearing damn near since before I hit puberty,” Gibbs reflected in a statement.
“For a long time, I was even teased for wearing ‘chancletas,’ so it’s also super refreshing to see our community evolve.”
