Soulja Boy Says "Crank That" Would Be Bigger If Released Now
The rapper makes his claim in a recent interview.
During a recent interview with Kids Take Over, Soulja Boy discussed what it would be like if “Crank That (Soulja Boy)” was released in 2023. In the fall of 2007, the Chicago rapper released his debut single, “Crank That (Soulja Boy),” taking over the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 for seven non-consecutive weeks.
Soulja Boy states his claim that the song would be even bigger if it were released now thanks to social media. “This was before streaming, really,” said Soulja. “This was still in iTunes and ringtones. I would have went more viral right now than I did back then. Actually, the fucking numbers and shit that I did back then is fucking legendary, amazing compared to today’s, from the technology that I was using.”
Also going on to note the power of TikTok today, “Imagine if I had TikTok! What the fuck?” he said. “You know how many people would have been doing the ‘Crank That’ dance?”
