Rage Against the Machine is taking a permanent step back from touring. Although fans were awaiting another reunion following the cancellation of the band’s 2022 run, drummer Brad Wilk confirmed a tour wouldn’t be in the cards in a statement shared to social media.

“I know a lot of people are waiting for us to announce new tour dates for all the canceled RATM shows. I don’t want to string people or myself along any further,” he wrote.

“I want to let you know that RATM (Tim, Zack, Tom and I) will not be touring or playing live again. I’m sorry for those of you who have been waiting for this to happen. I really wish it was.”

Rage Against the Machine’s initial reunion tour was announced in 2019 and scheduled for 2020 but was postponed due to the pandemic.

Come 2022, the tour was back on but the 2023 dates in North America and Europe were canceled after frontman Zack de la Rocha suffered an Achilles tendon injury. In December 2022, bassist Tim Commerford shared that he had been privately battling prostate cancer and had surgery just two months before touring had begun.

“Bottom of my heart,” Wilk wrote in the caption of his statement. “Thank you to every person who has ever supported us.”
