Kartik Research Brought India to Paris for FW24 Reveal
Kartik Kumra also announced his first collaboration with Baracuta.
Indian-born designer Kartik Kumra is searching for world domination, expanding his horizons by holding his first presentation at Paris Fashion Week. The intimate occasion welcomed guests inside a dated building in Paris’ Opéra neighborhood, packing the space with his romantic Fall/Winter 2024 collection.
Kartik Research‘s FW24 range pulls inspiration from the Thar Desert city of Jodhpur, expressing its deep history in sandstone mining. The collection continues to promote Indian craftsmanship, working with dozens of local artisans to produce hand-woven textiles that are undoubtedly unique. Kumra goes down formal routes with contrast-stitched boxy tailoring. Modern silhouettes are revamped with floral embroidery and glistening patchwork, also debuting his first selection of womenswear looks. Embellished tops and asymmetrical skirts guide the division, followed by essential wool coats and tasseled accessories.
Kartik Research is stepping onto larger grounds, uniting with UK titan Baracuta for their first collaboration. Kumra revisits Baracuta’s G9 Harrington jacket with quilted outlines and handloom fabrications, maintaining the item’s classic checkered design with geometric paneling.
