GmbH FW24 Examines Current Political Landscapes
Serhat Işık and Benjamin Huseby honor their immigrant backgrounds with a solemn collection.
GmbH founders Serhat Işık and Benjamin Huseby have closed Paris Fashion Week with a solemn Fall/Winter 2024 collection. The Berlin-based label inspected current political landscapes, looking at troubling times experienced worldwide.
As the last show of the season, GmbH opened its doors with a significant speech, seeing Işık and Huseby detail their immigrant and religious backgrounds. Sentimental Arabic music ignited the runway with respectful energy, seeing the first model walk the runway in a refined suit with layered fringed collars. Darkened United Nations logos landed on GmbH hoodies, while Palestinian keffiyeh scarves were reinterpreted into formal tailoring.
Strong-shouldered coats and protective balaclavas reflected fear drawn to war, featuring wrapped keffiyehs in white, black, green, and red. Dripping watermelon slices were artistically painted on oversized tees, acting as a symbol of Palestinian solidarity. Several textured crocodile looks were grounded in asymmetry, clinging to the body with warped zipper compartments. Opulent fur coats and shielding knitwear completed the collection with religious prayer hats, honoring its people fighting in battle.
