Seiko Reveals Two New Black Series Additions
Including a Diver and Solar Chronograph.
Seiko continues to expand its Black Series watch collection, with the latest additions being the SRPK43 Diver and the SSC923 Solar Chronograph.
These additions come as a continuation of last year’s release of the Black Series, which featured reimagined versions of the classic 1965 62MAS diver, the 6105-8000 and the Alpinist field watch.
Both the SRPK43 King Turtle Diver and the Solar Chronograph maintain the series’ distinctive black aesthetic. Both models boast a stainless steel case with a hard coating and a ceramic bezel, priced at $725 USD for the diver and $700 USD for the Solar Chronograph.
The SRPK43 diver measures 45mm in diameter and 13.2mm in thickness, featuring a 22mm lug width and 45mm lug-to-lug dimension. The Solar Chronograph is slightly smaller, with a 41.4mm diameter, a 13mm thickness, and a 21mm lug width.
At the heart of the King Turtle diver is the Seiko 4R36 movement, known for its reliability. While it offers a slightly lower power reserve of 41 hours compared to the 6R35 movement, it also comes with a more accessible price tag. Key features of the diver include a uni-directional bezel, screw-down crown, screw-in caseback and 200m water resistance, alongside a day and date display.
The Solar Chronograph, on the other hand, is powered for six months on a full charge and includes a running-second display, date function, 24-hour subdial and a 1/5-second chronograph with a 60-minute counter, along with 100m water resistance.
A notable change in these new releases is the absence of the textured dial found in the previous models, replaced by a matte grey-black finish. Both models are set to become available sometime in February, presumably via Seiko’s official site and select retailers.
