JiyongKim Delivers Sun-Bleached Staples For FW24
An expansive collection exploring a range of dynamic wares.

JiyongKim continues to take off and bring a dynamic aesthetic through an expansive range of sun-bleached wares. South Korean designer Jiyong Kim explores new materials with his established focus on the natural fabric dying treatment, taking to the great outdoors to bask in the striking sunlight that gives each of his pieces the unique pattern. Always rooted in sustainability, the label’s unique process rejects the use of large amounts of water and harmful chemicals, but instead utilizes the sun and the natural weather and climate conditions to achieve the desired coloration for his fabrics.
The eponymous label sees yet another seasonal range of wardrobe essentials that include various outerwear pieces, hoodies, shirts and pants, all marked by the sun-bleached details. Silhouettes remain quintessentially JiyongKim, with pieces receiving slight alterations from season’s past — including additional patchwork and intricate stitching. Pieces are versatile and functional, as seen in the puffer jacket that can see the hood easily removed. Windbreakers play with zippers where they are not only a functional feature, but a design one as well. One can choose to allow pieces of fabrics to be unzipped or zipped to give off another dimension of wear.
During Paris Fashion Week, JiyongKim invited Hypebeast to their showroom to view these products in person. With many standout pieces, one that struck the eye was a long-sleeved t-shirt, where the pattern was uniquely created through the surrounding sandy landscape blown onto the fabric by the wind. Not only did the sun-bleaching technique give off its signature streaking pattern, but the sand added another textured dimension, making it one-of-a-kind. From multi-layering to pleating and asymmetric patterns, JiyongKim continues to expand with unequalled trousers, collar jackets and hooded jackets.
