Chinese-born, London-based designer Feng Chen Wang is always keen to unravel her background, merging her humble beginnings and UK homelife into striking collections fired with dragon’s breath. The designer’s last-minute runway at Paris Fashion Week appeared on the schedule a few days before commencement, promising something new from the established creative.
Set inside an abandoned building block in central Paris, Feng Chen Wang welcomed spirited crowds to experience her Fall/Winter 2024 offerings. The collection built on her Chinese heritage while maintaining wearable designs that blossomed under Paris’ cloudless skies. FW24 expanded on the season’s wearability trend, delivering daily uniforms with unique dashes of cultural flair. She pulled inspiration from Chinese tea practices, brewing Earthy hues and leaf-like prints.
Ethereal melodies rained over guests sitting on linear benches, transitioning into booming soundtracks felt through the peeling wallpaper. Faded leather suits kicked off the showcase with coordinating neckties and square-toed loafers, succeeded by Canadian tuxedos slashed into flowing chunks. Asymmetry reigned supreme across cropped trucker jackets and strong-shouldered tweed coats, while bulbous bomber jackets and cord-bonded slip dresses set their sights on defiance.
