adidas and Malbon Golf Team Up for “The Crosby Collection”

Bing Crosby means different things for different people, whether it’s the beginnings of Hollywood cinema, mid-century Palm Springs architecture or silky baritone vocals over drums and brass instruments. But throughout his 50 year career Crosby also became a key figure in golf and made a habit of finding time for 18 holes between performances. His love of the game even led him to start a pro-am golf tournament called the Crosby Clambake, and it’s from here that adidas and Malbon Golf take inspiration for their first-ever official collaboration along with the Crosby estate: the Crosby Collection.

The collection, geared for men and women, reimagines golf fashion of the 40s and 50s through Malbon’s progressive, fashion forward lens and adidas’s penchant for performance. “We wanted to create pieces based on the rich catalog that golf fashion gave us in the 30s and 40s along with what we saw in old photographs from Bing’s famous Clambakes,” said adidas Golf’s creative director, Dylan Moore. “The entire collection is an ode to what golf and fashion became at that time in history but also celebrates how those same characteristics and fashion styles from that time still live on with golfers today.”

In keeping with that approach, a knit cardigan displays a graphic inspired by archive imagery from the Crosby Clambake, and pleated trousers elevate the collection from golf-specific garb to versatile garments for dinner out. On the women’s side, expect long and wide sleeves consistent with silhouettes from the Crosby era. But the standout piece has to be the form-fitting culotte pants, as sported in the official campaign video by adidas’s own Rose Zhang. Additionally, there are two footwear models to pair with the above items, including a collaborative Stan Smith and brogue detailed MC87.

The collection will be available come January 29 on both adidas and Malbon‘s websites.
