Jean Dawson locked down SZA for just her third feature of the year, hot off Drake‘s “Slime You Out” and Travis Scott‘s “Telekinesis.” On the staggering sonic venture between the emerging genre-bending young artist and the top-of-her-career songstress, the duo’s compatibility is evident as they deliver a haunting, realistic look at growing up in today’s society.

“I decided I don’t like Fall / I decided Summer doesn’t feel the same anymore / And Winter make me melt / Use my shell, melt myself,” Dawson croons on the first verse. Led by grungey guitars, the track explores the juxtaposition of life’s beauty with its darkness.

Directed by Bradley Calder (of the “Snooze” music video), the video echoes the existential sentiments Dawson conveys so beautifully in the lyrics. It focuses on two kids coloring as an array of eery scenes take place right behind them. Stream it in-full in the gallery above.

Dawson is also a cohesive storyteller; the single’s cover art is a nod to Maurice Sendak‘s classic children’s book Where the Wild Things Are, which sees Dawson as the monster.
