The FW23 “CHTHONIC PENUMBRA” collection made its runway debut during Milan Fashion Week this past February as a presentation of brooding sculptural enchantment. “Fit for a future dystopic society, collection garments came to be via curved silhouettes, ultra-straight silhouettes, warped detailing, bodycon fits and eye-catching textures,” read an earlier Hypebeast review. The collection dug deep into the brand’s creative core to center the power of emotion through design.
To further bring this vision to fruition, the newly released campaign observes the relationship between light and dark. Specifically, it is inspired by the travel between the two spaces. Slightly dystopic with deep shades of black, charcoal, slate gray and a pop of crimson red, the included campaign pieces focus on key design features like a custom camo print, laser tribal denim, irregular padded leather, overdyed cotton knitwear and custom signature metal trim.
“This collection is about artistic innovation, where each garment tells a story of creativity, craftsmanship, and personal observations of the world we live in,” said creative director/owner of Han Kjøbenhavn, Jannik Wikkelsø Davidsen. “The emotions that are unveiled when going from the light into the darkness is what drives the energy of the collection.”
