Objective Gallery Celebrates Milestone With All-Star Designer Lineup

Since its foundations three years ago, Objective Gallery has built a reputation for championing the very best in design and functional sculpture. Now, to celebrate its third year, Objective brings together the artists that have been part of its beginnings.

Designed as an O-shaped loop, the show chronologically reflects on the gallery’s 14 exhibitions to date. In doing this, the O-shaped exhibition design derives not only from the gallery’s name, but the constant cycle in which creativity moves.

Visitors wander around the show on a set-out route, taking in works by the following designers: Brecht Wright Gander, DenHolm by Steven John Clark, J McDonald, Vincent Pocsik, Atelier V&F, Charlotte Kingsnorth, Ellen Pong, TSBTD (Mimi & Maya), Liu Xi, Misha Kahn, EWE Studio, Héctor Esrawe, Batten and Kamp, Manu Baño, REM Atelier, Liam Lee, Eny Lee Parker, Robert Kuo, Fernando Mastrangelo, Aldo Cibic, Ding Shiwei, Nicholas Devlin, and Love House.

For founder Chris Shao, who began Objective in Shanghai in 2020, it’s a chance to pay homeage to the creatives listed above, and the many ways in which they work at the intersection of art and design.

“‘Made in China’ felt more like an allegation than a statement when I was growing up,” Shao said. “The connotations being a cheap, mass-produced, low-quality product. Fortunately, collectible design knows no origin stamp. If we can promote a culture exchange while elevating local craftsmanship to the international arena then Objective is something I am proud of.”

The show, “Grand House | Three Years at Objective” runs until October 10. For more design, check out the “Crystal Residence“, which is a serene getaway amidst an arid landscape.
