Closer Looks: Austin Reaves x Rigorer AR1 "Ice Cream"

Following the announcement of a multi-year partnership back in July, global performance brand Rigorer and Austin Reaves recently released the rising NBA star’s first signature shoe, the AR1. Limited to just 2,000 pairs, the AR1 debuted in an “Ice Cream” special edition colorway globally in partnership with global marketplace KICKS CREW, August 11, 2023.
Born and raised in Arkansas, Reaves played college basketball for the Wichita State Shockers and the Oklahoma Sooners, before joining the Los Angeles Lakers and signing a four-year extension this summer. Reaves first wore the Chinese sportswear brand Rigorer, founded by former CBA player Lin Chenyao in 2014, during the 2023 NBA regular season and playoffs. Entering a long-term partnership with Rigorer focused on providing high-quality performance basketball shoes at an affordable price point to a global audience.
“From growing up in Arkansas and being undrafted to now having my own signature shoe, this is a surreal moment for me,” said Austin Reaves. “Working closely with the design team, the AR1 is all about maximizing performance and efficiency on the court. The AR1 not only matches my all-around game but is also adaptable to all players.”
The Austin Reaves x Rigorer AR1 “Ice Cream” signature shoe expresses a mix of pastel pink and blue, an homage to Reaves’ favorite summer treat while growing up in Arkansas. The shoes also come complete with a specially designed box that includes two pair of performance socks. Aside from the aesthetic design, the special edition AR1 is loaded with performance technology inspired by Rigorer’s journey in basketball.
Leading the performance focus design is the breathability and lockdown support Woven Cocoon Upper, low-court feel ShowTime Tech Foam Midsole encapsulated in an EVA foam, and lace bite-eliminating Bubble Lacing System. Additional performance elements include the Anti-Torsion TPU Plate made with a carbon fiber and nylon composition, Anti-Slip Sole, Front Sidewall TPU Panels, and Anti-Skid Heel.
Priced at $100 USD, the Austin Reaves x Rigorer AR1 “Ice Cream” signature shoe was exclusively offered with global launch partner KICKS CREW. The release leveraged the platform’s reputation for offering a borderless shopping experience to consumers worldwide, connecting authorized retailers and brands to a global audience.
