Herman Miller Introduces a New Shape to the Iconic Eames Stool
Now renamed as the Eames Turned Stool.
Herman Miller has just released the newly named Eames Turned Stool, an updated sculptural piece inspired by Charles and Ray Eames’ technical drawings and design.
With the new stool, Herman Miller also introduces a new shape to the iconic Eames Walnut Stool, which previously only offered three variants. Versatile in form and function, the stool effortlessly doubles as a side table and objet d’art for any living space. Crafted from solid walnut, the sculptural stool is also offered in a new ebonized ash finish.
“According to photo documentation in the Library of Congress and technical drawings from the Herman Miller Archives, the Eames Office initially prototyped ten variations of turned stool designs,” explained Amy Auscherman, Director of Global Archives and Brand Heritage at MillerKnoll. “Of those ten designs, four were selected for the lobbies of the Time & Life Building, and three made their way into Herman Miller’s product line. Shape “D” was included in the original Time & Life lobbies and offers a worthy addition to this now iconic family of Eames designs,” she elaborated.
The Eames Turned Stool in walnut retails for $1,295 USD, while the ebonized ash option is priced at $995 USD. Now available to shop at Herman Miller’s online shop.
