Crystal Palace Appoints Kenny Annan-Jonathan as the Premier League's First Ever Creative Director
With his first creative project being to launch Palace’s Fall/Winter 2023 collection.
London-based football club, Crystal Palace, has become the first side in the Premier League to hire a creative lead to oversee apparel collections and fashion partnerships.
Enlisting South London-born Kenny Annan-Jonathan for the new role, Palace’s new appointment comes from a fashion and design background, with Annan-Jonathan launching his sports marketing agency, The MailRoom in 2019.
The agency collaborated with globally-renowned brands and managed successful partnerships for world-class athletes such as Wilfried Zaha, Michail Antonio, Olympic Bronze medalist boxer Joshua Buatsi, and Team GB’s prominent female sprinter, Daryll Neita.
As per Business of Fashion, Annan-Jonathan’s first project in his new position will be to launch Crystal Palace’s Fall/Winter 2023 collection, with further plans to create “products that go beyond typical sports team merch and grow the team’s fan base.”
Crystal Palace’s new appointment follows similar moves from lesser-known teams, like Parisian football club, Red Star, which reached a global audience through its innovative collaborations and jersey creations under its Creative Director and former Manchester United player, David Bellion.
