British musician Brian Eno will be sharing the score he composed for Netflix’s east London-set crime drama, Top Boy. In addition to the series’ memorable theme song, Eno worked alongside Michael “Mikey J” Asante to create music from the onset of production in 2011, to now, the wrap-up of its third and final season.

The artist’s contributions will be compiled as a formal soundtrack album, which will hit on streaming services on September 1 ahead of Top Boy’s season three debut on September 7.

Eno has released a track called “Cutting Room 1,” a cut that didn’t quite make it onto the final album. The song is one of two never-before-heard singles that will be included on the album, despite not ever appearing in the show.

“From the beginning of Top Boy, I was given the freedom to work in the way I prefer,” Eno said. “Making music and atmospheres and then giving it to the filmmakers to use as they saw fit. I try to absorb the idea of what a piece is about and from that I produce a lot of music, and say, ‘Here it is. Use it as you wish.’”

“If you’d been scoring it in the conventional Hollywood way, the temptation would be to up the excitement factor, up the danger factor, all the time. But Top Boy is really about children in a pretty bad situation,” he continued. “So I explored the internal world of the children, not just what’s happening to them in the external world. Quite a lot of the music was deliberately naive, it was sort of simple. The melodies were simple, not really sophisticated, or grown-up.”

Brian Eno’s Top Boy soundtrack album will be released digitally first on September 1, followed by a vinyl release on September 29.

In other music news, Travis Scott shared the full “CIRCUS MAXIMUS” film on YouTube.
