Quavo has reflected on the tragic death of Takeoff and how he’s been grappling with his emotions since the event in a new interview.

The fellow Migos rapper passed away during a shooting at a private party taking place at a Houston bowling alley in November of last year. Takeoff was just 28 years old.

The rapper shared a conversation with Jamie Crawford-Walker on YouTube, where he spoke about grief and Takeoff’s forthcoming posthumous album, Rocket Power.

Asked what “rocket power” means to him by Crawford-Walker, Quavo responded, “It means everything to me.”

“Just being fueled by my brother, Take, and bottling in all these emotions—all the pain, all the hard times, all the times I cried and all the times I just made music to pull up and try to play songs and he’s not there,” he continued. “I’m just trying to get this fuel from above and this fuel from the sky and call it ‘rocket power.’”

Quavo says he’s already used a “few unreleased verses” from Takeoff but plans to preserve almost all of his music for the posthumous album. According to Quavo, there are around 1,000 unreleased verses.

Elsewhere in the interview, Quavo spoke candidly about his grief. He also said that he’s been visiting Takeoff’s home and preserving his belongings, from maintaining his cars to cleaning his jewelry.

“I miss him a lot and I love him,” he reflected. “He know I love him. That’s what we always know. So when you see me and you see me smiling or something like that, you don’t gotta never think, like, I forgot about him or I’ll forget about him. I think about him all the time. Sometimes I cry myself to sleep. I just know he’s here. If I can’t feel him, I just know he’s around.”
