Peter Hawkings To Debut at Tom Ford During Milan Fashion Week This Fall
Following his appointment as creative director in April.

Tom Ford on Thursday announced that it will present its Spring/Summer 2024 womenswear collection during Milan Fashion Week in September. The show will mark Peter Hawkings’ debut as the label’s creative director, following his appointment to the role in April.
In a statement, Hawkings said, “I am honored to have been appointed Creative Director of Tom Ford and to have this unique opportunity to help write the next chapter in the brand’s future. Italian craftsmanship and excellence have been a source of inspiration for our collections and I am delighted to be showing during Milan Fashion Week.”
After 13 years, Tom Ford bid farewell to his namesake label earlier this year with his final women’s ready-to-wear collection for Fall 2023. The company was sold to Estée Lauder in a deal valued at $2.8 billion USD in November of last year. Rumors of Ford’s departure reached new heights following the sale’s closure — and after the tragic passing of his partner, Richard Buckley, in 2021, many felt that it could offer the designer a moment for himself.
Hawkings worked alongside Ford for over two decades, most recently having served as the senior vice president of the brand’s menswear division. “Peter began working with me 25 years ago as a menswear design assistant at Gucci and rapidly worked his way up to become the senior men’s designer at the company when he left to join me at the Tom Ford brand,” Ford said in a statement. “Peter has been instrumental in the success of the brand. He is an incredibly talented leader with tremendous industry experience.”
Hawkings will not be the only designer to debut during Milan Fashion Week in September. Sabato De Sarno is also slated to stage his first show for Gucci that same week.
