Nike Kobe 4 "Philly" Is Returning in Protro Form in 2024
Coming back for the first time since its ‘09 debut.

Black Mamba fans can rejoice because Nike has announced the official relaunch of the late Kobe Bryant‘s signature line which is set to go down on Kobe Day (August 24, 2023). The Swoosh’s basketball division will see a number of the five-time NBA champion’s classic colorways return to the fore, one of which is the Nike Kobe 4 Protro “Philly” edition that will touch down in 2024. This pair made its debut in 2009 and will be brought back with all of its original design cues.
While Bryant is mostly associated with his career in Los Angeles, CA, he had close ties to the city of Philadelphia as this is where he attended Lower Merion High School and put himself on NBA teams’ radars. The court-ready pair is styled with a patriotic motif as a “Varsity Royal” tone dominates its base layer. White accents show face across the Swooshes, Flywire lines and the Kobe signatures that adorn the heel cups while red hits arrive along the laces and interior linings. Collars are treated with tonal star graphics to round off its look.
Enjoy a look at a pair from ‘09 above and note that the Protro version is tentatively slated to launch for $180 USD next summer.
In other news, a Nike Ja 1 “EYBL” colorway has been revealed.
