Gantri and Craighill Present the Flux Table Light
Drawing inspiration from classical Greek architecture and the flame of a flickering candle.
Contemporary design and manufacturing company Craighill is known for putting functionality at the forefront of its wide array of home pieces. The Brooklyn-based company is joining forces with the similarly focused Gantri, a sustainably inventive lighting manufacturer, for its first leap into the lighting design space. Designed by Hunter Craighill, Craighill’s co-founder, the Flux Table Light embraces the practicality and innovation that both brands prioritize.
Available in three colorways – burnt orange, forest green and light gray – the Flux Table Light came to be conceptualized during a power outage. During the outage, Craighill was reading a book by the candlelight, distracted by constantly shifting his eyes from the candle’s dripping wax back to the pages of his book. In this coincidental moment of inspiration, Craighill pictured the convenience of combining the dripping wax with the architectural columns pictured in his book. Thus, the Flux Table Light was created.
The Flux Table Light is made fully out of plant-based polymers, and, in alignment with Gantri’s expertise in 3D printing, all of its 3D-printed materials are made to order and assembled by hand. Standing just under a foot tall and complete with a museum-grade dimmable LED plus a 90-in. cord, the Flux Table Light is convenient for any desk or bookshelf.
“Form and function are more intertwined with lighting than with a lot of other categories we design within,” Craighill explained in a press release. “Flux is designed to create more intimate and intentional spaces. We took a lot of inspiration from classical architecture and candlelight and tried to incorporate that analog spirit into the design.”
The Flux Table Light retails for $298 USD, and is currently available to shop on both Craighill and Gantri webstores.
