Bas and J. Cole Go Global in "Passport Bros" Video
Complete with a nod to the Charlotte Hornets.
After first announcing their upcoming collaborative track last week, Bas and J. Cole have released “Passport Bros” – and they’re bringing the good vibes worldwide.
“Clase Azul got me singing ‘I love you too’…” the lively track opens, teasing the forthcoming catchy chorus, while the Afrobeats beat builds in the background. The track swerves right into the bouncy chorus, which goes:
“No more dares, only truths, girl, how ’bout we go? /Go up-shelf, we not drinking Casamigos / Are you impaired? You’re not there, but I’m a little / Clase Azul got me singing ‘I love you, too.’”
Bas – a.k.a. “Captain Clase” on this track – bodies the first verse with his effortless flow, and after a run of the catchy chorus, he slides over the second verse as well. After establishing himself on the track, J.Cole comes in hot (“We ain’t shelling out cash for hoes / No, I’m a little ole fashion.”) A few bars later, he shouts NBA team the Charlotte Hornets (which he recently purchased a minority stake in) with “Shots of Clase, me and lil Bassy in Barcelona / The news just dropped, I’m a partial owner / What can I say? / Tell Coach Cliff to suit me up and I’ll play.”
The equally as upbeat video follows the Dreamville duo as they trek around the world – with lots of Clase bottles in tow. Bas begins poolside in Johannesburg, then hits Tokyo for some fresh sushi before J. Cole joins him for cigars and shots (of Clase, presumably) in Barcelona. The closing shots of the crew gambling at the casino hint at Vegas being the final stop on the “Passport Bros” music video tour.
“Passport Bros” is available to stream on Spotify and Apple Music. Check out the jet-setting music video above.
