Making its return to Paris Fashion Week, Li-Ning presented its Spring/Summer 2024 collection at the city’s iconic Centre Pompidou. In tandem with its powerful runway show, the sports-focused label crafted a multi-faceted experience combining a video installation, Kung Fu dance, as well as a live performance by Offset.

Entitled “MY-VERSE”, the collection showcased Li-Ning’s vision of premium streetwear for both men and women, which also served to redefine the label’s archetypes and aesthetics. As a result, you may find a version of yourself via Li’s takes on stereotypes, which spanned from the skater, gamer, and athlete to the cool kid via a throwback lens. The assortment of personas was channeled through an array of styles, spanning anything from technical jackets, nylon raincoats, dresses, cargo pants, and hoodies. A mix of vibrant hues and muted tones permeated throughout the collection, with a prominent emphasis on orange, verdant green, warm gray, and monochrome, as well as star motifs, and cityscape prints.

The footwear followed suit with the overall tone and color schemes of “MY-VERSE” while perfectly also demonstrating Li-Ning’s prowess in crafting innovative, technical, and streamlined designs. Highlighted styles come in the form of the Titan FLow inflatable shoes, minimalist Kungfu Yang sneakers, as well as Feidian CRC racers, the latest iteration of the label’s flagship runners.

Teaming up with Chinese artist Oscar Wang for the show’s theme, Li-Ning’s Spring/Summer 2024 runway played on Wang’s hallmarked approach in blurring the lines between physical and digital. From traditional Chinese vase silhouettes to calabash-inspired forms, the stage featured a series of surrealistic doorways which models would emerge from while sporting a look that corresponded to the theme of its respective portals.

Founder Li-Ning expressed that “After three decades, we are excited to leverage our intrinsic understanding of the athlete’s body and fuse it with an aesthetic, an attitude, and a sense of style that is deeply and uniquely Chinese yet intended for all. We wish to define the space where sport and imagination intersect, with a vivid approach and quality that is unparalleled.”
