System Studios SS24 Is All About Contradiction
Titled “Purple Noon,” the range takes cues from Percy Bysshe Shelley’s poem, ‘Stanzas Written in Dejection, Near Naples.’
During Paris Fashion Week, System Studios presented a Spring/Summer 2024 collection, titled “Purple Noon,” drawing inspiration from Percy Bysshe Shelley’s thrilling poem, Stanzas Written in Dejection, Near Naples. With roots in the Southern Italian city — and the poem’s haunting themes — the line is filled with captivating statements, for both day and night.
Opening the range, a snakeskin-covered coat layers above roomy khaki pants and a quarter-button-up shirt, while a small knitted tank top offers a stark contrast to baggy utility pants. Reptilian prints continue to reappear on shorts, shoes and tanks alike, while denim makes its presence known across a selection of loose trousers and form-fitting tops. A tank top, in red, dons lettering reading “Desert Mirage,” while a leather jacket in an identical hue features a boxy construction.
Down the line, another leather coat takes cues from today’s popular motocross aesthetic, and casual suiting emerges in neutral tones. Trench coats pair with shorts; cut-off denim rests just above thigh-high boots, and blazers meet pattern-clad underlayers, all in pursuit of disruption.
“Contradiction is at the heart of this collection,” read the show notes. “The interplay of classic and modern, the tender embrace of romance amidst solitude, and the gradual transition from scorching noon to mystical night. Every aspect exudes emotional intensity that is impossible to ignore, from the vibrant hues to the intricate details.”
