While the style is a womenswear silhouette, it does go up to a size US 10.5. With that in mind, the sneaker definitely bends the rules when it comes to what defines a sneaker — here, there is no vamp, instead swapping out conventions for a velcro strap in metallic silver or gloss black, covered in floral detailing.
Elsewhere, we find transparent paneling also presenting floral prints, distracting the eye from the signature ASICS branding and tropes that remain on the medial and lateral walls. Another unique touch is the two-eyelet lace set-up, working more like a bow on the toe alongside a small hit of ASICS branding.
Taking to Instagram, the designer said: “Cecilie Bahnsen x ASICS; paying homage to the studied craftsmanship and passion invested in this collaboration, echoing the artistry behind each shoe. Trainers are displayed on plinths in a raw space creating a striking contrast in merging Cecilie Bahnsen’s feminine universe with ASICS’s technical appeal.”
Indeed, the designer’s shoes are currently on display at 35-37 Rue des Francs Bourgeois, Paris, as part of the wider Paris Fashion Week ongoings. Here, you’ll find plenty of new ASICS footwear, notably these Cecilie Bahnsen pairs in their own installation.
